ABOUT ME

Me.JPG

My name is Julia E. McElhenny. I’m a video editor and photographer from Austin, TX. I graduated in May 2019 from Flagler College in St. Augustine, FL with a degree in Media Production and a minor in American Sign Language.

I’ve always loved photography, and after my mom gave me her old photography book from when she was in college, I finally decided to hone my technical skills. I’ve now done photography for graduations, pregnancy announcements, engagements, pet portraits, festivals, products, brands, and more. Shooting still photos lead to an interest in videos, which lead me to editing.

I’ve worked on editing projects with content ranging from drag racing to music festivals to documentaries about real world issues. My first real experience came from an idea I got while at a hockey game with my dad. I ended up working as the first ever video production intern for the Texas Stars Hockey Club in 2017, which helped supplement the skills I was refining at Flagler College. These skills led me to multiple freelance opportunities, with both still photography and video, in Florida, Colorado, and Texas.

I've always had an interest and strong skills in story-telling. Soon after beginning college, I realized that my favorite way to tell a story was visually, which is when I really started to get into both video and ASL.
